Nude Female Watercolor Painting Surreal Fantasy Art

This piece was created at Michael Alan's "Draw-a-thon" in the East Village in New York City. These draw-a-thons are alternative art events where performance artist perform as models. In the event I attended the evening was titled "The Examination" One model held a corspe-like pose for the entire session while other models moved around her space.

I found out today that my painting "City Siblings" was chosen to be included in the prestigious
portrait festival, "Faces of Winter". This includes the country's top portrait artists and will be judged by esteem artist Daniel Greene.

Watercolor Painting Male Female Nude Art Life Drawing View Large Image This was a very ambitious undertaking to paint both models directly from life and was very pleased that Reid loved it too. He especially liked the background of the studio and the loose treatment of the flesh tones. I love the memories this piece will evoke. I has worked hard throughout the week to master Reid's techniques and this piece was created on the last day. Note the shadows of the hair on the shoulders.

I spent a week studying with noted contemporary watercolorist Charles Reid.
I am very proud of the body of work I produced during the week.
Here I am posting some of Reid's lessons along with my drawings and paintings.
While he was drawing the models I likes to make my own charcoal sketches of them
I was sitting in a different spot than Reid so my perspective is different than his.

Wendall was a model who posed for us the first day.
He is featured in some of Reid's books. I was happy with my charcoal study of him.

Later we had the choice to paint him or the another model.

Paperwhite narcissus

White Floral Original Art

I did this series to work on what happens when you combine complementary colors to mix an assortment of grays. I loved having these fragrant narcissus in my studio.

White flower art goes with any kind of decorating scheme. This exceptional original watercolor painting depicts fragrant paperwhites ( the white flowers known as Narcissus) in a garden. The white flowers tinged with gold are executed on a lively gold and silvery quarry blue gray background that blend into vibrant grays. Neutral cedar green leaves add to the tranquility of this artwork.
